Kids and the game - 2005
Alexis is eight years old and is going through that "competitive emotion" during a
match.
These kids are playing competitive tennis, learning and experiencing the challenges. It is
an opportunity to test their skills under pressure, a necessary part of a player's
development.
Her parents are there to support her emotional well-being before and after the match.
Alexis practices with her dad, Karlos, and is coached by Susan Stone, tennis pro at West
Vancouver Tennis Club. Players, parents and coaches need to form a strong team together to
keep development along the best path.
Parents seeking to develop the character of their young players through competitive tennis
should remember to keep it fun. You want them to stay with the game for a long time.
